About

Before advising businesses, I built them.

Business Architect. The person founders phone when the complexity gets too loud and things start to unravel.

The work

Built from the inside out.

Before working with businesses, I built them. Scaled them. Watched some of them work and some of them not. Van Gogh produced over 900 paintings in a decade and sold just one while he was alive. Picasso made close to 50,000 works across his lifetime. The pieces they are remembered for represent a fraction of everything they made.

The same is true in business. Most things don't work the first time. Most attempts are part of the cost of knowing what to do next. I've built things that succeeded and things that failed — and what I know about diagnosis, systems and turnaround is grounded in both. Not in a theoretical framework. In what actually happened.

I've worked across private enterprise, public sector, NGOs, faith institutions, academia and development. As COO, as entrepreneur, as consultant. I have designed bespoke intellectual property frameworks applied internationally. I've taken organisations through turnaround, growth, governance restructuring and operational rebuilds.

The ability to work across different sectors and scales sharpens the diagnosis. The same underlying failures show up everywhere — misaligned incentives, unclear accountability, decisions concentrating in the wrong place. The context changes. The pattern doesn't.

I can walk into a room and within minutes I understand the real dynamics — what is being said, what is not being said, and what is actually happening underneath both.

Track record

Experience that makes improvement practical.

Private sector Built and scaled businesses across multiple industries. Operational leadership, business development, systems design and executive partnership.
Public and NGO sector Over fifteen years of operational leadership across NGOs, NPOs and community institutions in the Western Cape. Governance, accountability and practical turnaround.
Intellectual property design Designed bespoke IP frameworks applied internationally. Systems, diagnostics, assessments and operational methodologies built from original thinking.

The edge

Pattern recognition at the system level.

My edge is not expertise in any single discipline. It is the ability to see how the parts of a system connect — and where the real problem sits, even when the obvious diagnosis is pointing elsewhere.

I listen to how someone describes a problem. While they speak, I am connecting: the person, the relationships, the decisions, the processes, the incentives, the constraints, the history. Not as separate elements — as a system. And then I identify where the intervention needs to happen.

This works because I am not committed to a method before I understand the situation. The method follows the reality. Not the other way around.
