Applied work.

Two engagements where the same underlying approach — diagnose first, rebuild what's actually broken — produced a measurably different outcome.

WD Auto Clinic

Situation

An automotive workshop with strong technical reputation and genuine growth, but no operational structure behind it — no defined roles, no KPIs, no formal onboarding, no documented processes for the specialist diagnostic work that set the business apart. Growth had outpaced the systems needed to sustain it.

Action

Clarified business structure and operational direction. Reviewed every role and identified where responsibilities were misaligned. Designed a KPI framework and performance review structure specific to each position. Mapped the operational gaps constraining growth — people, systems, and workflow. Built out a Standard Operating Plan covering roles, targets, and expectations. Established the compliance groundwork, including RMI registration. Repositioned the business identity around its actual strength: advanced fault-finding and complex diagnostic work, not routine servicing.

Outcome

The business scaled significantly — demand now regularly exceeds capacity. The operational foundation built during the engagement continues to run the business today. WD Auto Clinic is RMI approved and operating with defined systems and structure that didn't exist before the engagement began.

Estate Turnaround

Situation

A residential complex under sustained mismanagement — service providers selected through relationships rather than value, unexplained monthly losses, ageing security and compliance failures, and governance structures that hadn't been updated to reflect current sectional title requirements.

Action

Took on a governance role and systematically rebuilt the operation. Replaced underperforming service providers with more cost-effective alternatives at improved service levels. Diagnosed a structural building defect responsible for R7,000–9,000 in unexplained water losses monthly, and corrected it. Negotiated and installed security infrastructure that brought crime in the complex to zero. Rewrote the governing bylaws in line with current sectional title legislation, formally adopted by the body corporate. Managed a full exterior repainting project through to completion. Adjusted levy structures to fund the recovery without destabilising residents.

Outcome

The complex moved from financial strain to full recovery — security restored, compliance current, governance modernised, and property value increased as a direct result. What had been a depreciating asset became a well-run, appreciating one.
